Prime Recruitment Services are currently recruiting for a Community Engagement Officer to support Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council.
This is a temporary full-time role focused on community engagement, stakeholder communication and public awareness around key Council projects, including the Belfast Region City Deal, Destination Royal Hillsborough and the redevelopment of Dundonald International Ice Bowl.
π― The Role
As Community Engagement Officer, you will act as a key point of contact for the Council, helping to develop and deliver community engagement programmes that keep residents, businesses, community groups, elected members and key stakeholders informed.
You will support the planning, delivery and review of engagement activity, ensuring messages are clear, consistent and inclusive across community, business and public audiences.
π§ Key Responsibilities
Your duties will include:
- π€ Developing and delivering community engagement programmes
- π’ Supporting communication around major Council projects and local developments
- ποΈ Engaging with residents, businesses, community groups and voluntary sector organisations
- π Creating and reviewing bespoke engagement plans
- π² Working with the Communications Service Unit on social media, events and outreach activity
- π Collating, responding to and signposting community enquiries
- π Promoting inclusivity, partnership working and positive social impact
- π¬ Supporting stakeholder engagement, consultation and public awareness activity

Organising outreach work, meetings, events and engagement sessions
- ποΈ Working collaboratively with Council departments, project sponsors and external partners
- π Maintaining accurate records, contact databases and meeting information
- π Preparing reports for Committee meetings where required
- β Promoting high standards of customer care and protecting the Councilβs public image

Requirements
Applicants must have either:
- π A degree, NVQ Level 4 or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject such as Marketing, Community Development or Public Relations
or
- π At least 4 yearsβ relevant experience if the above qualification is not held
Applicants must also have at least 2 yearsβ relevant experience in areas such as:
- π€ Community engagement, conflict resolution and facilitation
- π’ Communications campaign planning and management
- π» Digital communications
- ποΈ Stakeholder engagement
π Additional Essential Criteria
Applicants must also have:
- π A full, current UK driving licence and access to a car, or access to suitable transport to carry out the duties of the post
- ποΈ Understanding of local government and the wider political environment
- π‘ Practical understanding of the key issues affecting service delivery within the role
- π¬ Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- π Ability to manage projects, records and reports accurately
- β A flexible, professional and community-focused approach
