Responsibilities β
As a Tourism and Events Assistant, you will:
- π€ Collaborate with the Tourism and Events team to deliver a cohesive and impactful program of events and initiatives.
- π¨ Assist in the planning, organization, marketing, and administration of major city events, festivals, and tourism projects.
- π Support the delivery of national and international events, working in partnership with government agencies and global organizations.
- πΌοΈ Manage the marketing and promotion of events, including branding, advertising, and the production of printed materials.
- π Coordinate local event organizing committee meetings and represent the team at various meetings, preparing reports, presentations, and briefings as required.
- π Contribute to the development of small-scale public events and animation programs, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
- π Assist in the evaluation and reporting of the economic and social impact of events, maintaining key performance indicator (KPI) and marketing databases.
- π Draft legal documents such as contracts and funding agreements, ensuring compliance with council policies.
- π° Support the management of project budgets, procurement processes, and supplier relationships.
- β οΈ Ensure all health and safety requirements are met for events, including risk assessments, licenses, and event management plans.
- ποΈ Act as Deputy Event Controller during event delivery, overseeing coordination and ensuring smooth execution.
- πΌ Assist in attracting sponsorships and securing funding for events and tourism initiatives.
Qualifications π
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:
Essential Qualifications and Experience π
- A third-level qualification in a relevant discipline such as event management π, tourism ποΈ, cultural tourism π¨, business management π’, or marketing π’.
- At least two years of relevant experience in:
- πͺ Delivering large-scale public events or tourism initiatives.
- π» Marketing and promoting events or tourism initiatives.

Your typical day may include:

- π Conducting site visits and risk assessments for event venues.
- π΅ Assisting in the preparation of budgets, contracts, and funding applications.
- π§ Monitoring and evaluating the success of events, compiling reports, and updating databases.
