As the Senior Information Governance Officer, your key duties will include:

  • βš™οΈ Coordinating compliance with data protection laws and related projects.
  • πŸ“‘ Managing and responding to Subject Access Requests (SARs) efficiently.
  • πŸ’‘ Providing expert advice to directors and council officers on data protection compliance and best practices.
  • πŸ› οΈ Developing, reviewing, and updating policies, procedures, and guidance on data protection.
  • πŸŽ“ Designing and delivering training programs for council staff and elected members on data protection responsibilities.
  • πŸ“ Assisting with the council's Data Protection Registration with the Information Commissioner’s Office.
  • πŸ” Investigating data breaches and recommending solutions to minimise risk.
  • βœ… Conducting data protection compliance audits and preparing reports for senior management.
  • πŸ”— Advising on data sharing, privacy notices, and data controller/processor arrangements.
  • 🀝 Liaising with the Information Commissioner’s Office and representing the organisation at local/regional forums.
  • πŸ“Ή Developing and implementing a corporate CCTV policy and action plans.
  • 🀡 Deputising for the Records Manager when required.

To succeed, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Education and Work Experience:

    • πŸ“˜ A third-level qualification in a relevant subject (or equivalent) AND at least 1 year of relevant work experience in the following:
      • Providing expert advice on data protection compliance and best practices.
      • Designing and delivering training on data protection responsibilities.
      • Developing, reviewing, and updating corporate policies & guidance on data protection.
        OR
    • πŸ“š 2 years of relevant experience in the absence of a formal qualification in the areas outlined above.
