OSS Sweeper Driver/Labourer (Driving)

Are you an experienced driver who takes pride in keeping communities clean, safe and welcoming? We're looking for a reliable and hardworking OSS Sweeper Driver/Labourer to join the Open Spaces and Streetscene team.

This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same. You'll operate mechanical sweepers, maintain public spaces, work alongside a supportive team, and help deliver high-quality environmental services across the city.

 

What You'll Be Doing

• Driving and operating mechanical sweepers safely and efficiently.
• Carrying out manual and mechanical street cleansing.
• Emptying litter bins and collecting litter from roads, footpaths, parks, alleyways and public spaces.
• Performing daily vehicle safety checks and basic maintenance.
• Transporting team members to work locations when required.
• Assisting with labouring duties including sweeping, lifting waste and general environmental maintenance.
• Following planned routes and ensuring work is completed to a high standard.
• Working safely at all times in line with Health & Safety procedures.
• Providing a professional and courteous service when interacting with members of the public.

 

What We're Looking For

Essential Requirements

✔ Full Category C1 Driving Licence (valid for driving in Northern Ireland)

✔ Valid Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence)

✔ At least 1 year's experience in:

• Driving in a commercial environment
• Outdoor cleaning or environmental maintenance
• Working safely with tools and equipment
• Providing good customer service and dealing with members of the public

Successful applicants will also be required to pass a driving assessment as part of the recruitment process.
