πŸ” Responsibilities

As the Human Resources Manager, you will:

  • βœ… Provide expert advice and guidance to senior managers and staff on HR matters, including employee relations, attendance management, training and development, and employee resourcing.
  • βœ… Oversee the implementation and compliance of HR policies, ensuring alignment with relevant legislation and best practices.
  • βœ… Manage and supervise departmental HR staff, ensuring efficient and effective service delivery.
  • βœ… Lead investigations and hearings related to disciplinary, grievance, and capability matters.
  • βœ… Monitor and manage attendance, including compliance with absence management policies and procedures.
  • βœ… Collaborate with corporate HR to oversee recruitment, workforce planning, and agency worker engagement.
  • βœ… Develop and implement departmental learning and development strategies.
  • βœ… Contribute to the formulation and review of council and departmental policies, strategies, and performance indicators.
  • βœ… Maintain accurate personnel records and ensure compliance with data protection legislation.
  • βœ… Represent the department in consultative meetings with trade unions and staff representatives.

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:

Must-Haves πŸ…

  • πŸŽ“ Hold a third-level qualification in a relevant subject such as Human Resource Management, Business Studies, or an equivalent qualification.
  • 🌟 Be a current, full professional member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) (Associate, Chartered Member, or Chartered Fellow).
  • πŸ“‹ Have at least two years of relevant experience managing HR issues at a middle management level in a large, multi-disciplined, unionised organisation (100+ employees).
  • Proven experience with:
    • βœ”οΈ Providing advice and support on HR and employee relations issues, including recruitment, disciplinary, grievance, and attendance management.
    • βœ”οΈ Managing HR and employee relations in line with policies, procedures, and legislative requirements.
    • βœ”οΈ Supervising and managing staff using performance management principles.

  • βž• Three years of relevant experience in the areas mentioned above.
  • βž• A higher relevant qualification, such as a Master’s in Human Resource Management or equivalent.
